An authorized South Korean news publication reports that the Samsung will produce 30 million fewer smartphone units in 2022.
The three main factors that led to this decision are rising inflation and subsequent consumer spending, the ongoing shortage of components and the situation in Ukraine. Production is expected to across all device categories, from entry-level to flagship.
Samsung originally planned to manufacture 310 million smartphones by 2022, but developments have forced it to reset its target to 280 million units. Although it posted record revenue in the first quarter and had an estimated 73.7 million smartphone shipments worldwide, it is being forced to cut production.
